THE RICHEST INHERITORS OF KOREAN CELEBRITIES





These 'perfect celebrities' who are born in families of elites, not only inherit the riches of their well-to-do parents but also a good looking face. Let's get to know who are them...



Actress Lee Min Jung



Lee Min Jung is well known with her character in Boys Over Flower. She also a wife to Korean International actor Lee Byung Hun. 

Min Jung's father is the CEO of an advertising agency and her mum is a pianist, and the family has been living in a mansion worth KRW 3.8 billion (S$4 million) since she was a child.

Her late maternal grandfather was a reknowned painter and a poignant figure in Korean art history that pioneered the first generation of modernised ink painters in the country. 



Apink's former member, Hong Yookyung


Yookyung's father is the head of a leading steel company in Korea. The company named DSR Corporation, has an estimated sales figure worth over US$125 million (S$155 million) in 2010.

The A Pink member herself is said to hold some of the company shares.



Girls' Generation's Sunny 


Girls' Generation's Sunny is the niece of Lee Soo Man, the founder of SM Entertainment 




Girls' Generation's Sooyoung 


Sooyoung, who is dubbed as the richest member in Girls' Generation, once said on a TV program, 'My family has two houses - my grandfather's and mine. It is true we have a garden.'

For a city that is known for its high real estate prices, Sooyoung's revelation spoke volumes of her family's wealth. The lanky idol also revealed on the show that her grandfather owns an architecture company, further consolidating her 'rich girl' image.






Actor Kang Dong Won


Actor Kang Dong Won's father is the Vice President of SPP Shipbuilding Co Ltd which is one of largest shipbuilding companies in the world.

The company is reportedly aiming for revenue worth US$2.5 billion (S$3 billion) by 2015.




Actor Yoon Tae Young


Actor Yoon Tae Young is the son of former Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Yoon Jong Yong.

Tae Young's wedding with actress Im Yoo Jin in 2007 was attended by 4000 business, political and societal figures, including former Seoul mayor and the 10th President of South Korea Lee Myung-bak, former LG Electronics Vice Chairman Kim Ssang-su and former Finance Minister Lee Hun-jai.




Actor Jung Il Woo


Il Woo's grandfather was a doctor for the former South Korean President and is now the Chief Director of a hospital in Korea.

His father was a director of a Kendo (Japanese martial art) academy; and his mother was an award-winning Chief of Textiles Research Lab at Korea University and is now a professor at the Korean National University of Cultural Heritage.





2PM's Nichkhun


Nichkhun's mother is the CEO of a leading pharmaceutical importer and distributor 'Union Medical' in Thailand. The company was established in 1976 and its sales revenue in 2011 is reportedly worth US$6 million (approximately S$7.4 million).

The 2PM member boosts an impressive resume himself. Nichkhun attended the prestigious Wanganui Collegiate School in New Zealand where British royal family Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, was also educated in. The school is said to admit a limited number of students each year and the annual tuition fees cost a minimum of NZ $10,000 (S$10,400).

Previously, Nichkhun also uploaded photos of his villa-like home in Thailand.



2AM's Jinwoon



Jinwoon's well-to-do background came to light after he went on MBC Radio Star with his fellow 2AM members last year.

He said, 'I live in a 3558-square-foot house in Cheongdamdong and I have a personal band practice room inside.'

Jinwoon added that he converted a dance practice room into a band room as his current residence used to be the office for singers such as Kahi and Son Dambi.

The maknae of 2AM specially hired a party planner for his 21st birthday, and received many congratulatory messages from fellow celebrities.




ZE:A's Hyungsik


ZE:A's Hyungsik became a popular name on the Korean search engines after his fellow member Kwanghee spilled the beans on his wealthy background on MBC Radio Star program last July. 

During the recording, it was revealed that Hyungsik's father is a member of the board of directors at BMW Korea. The 21-year-old gained even more attention after he made an appearance on SBS Strong Heart where his bank account balance worth KRW 16 million (approximately S$17,500) was again disclosed by Kwanghee.




Block B's P.O


It was revealed during a MBC program Weekly Idol last November that Block B's P.O. is eligible to join the ranks of 'rich idols' when he disclosed that his father runs a duty-free store.

Though he declined to let on the exact details of the store, the rapper said, 'Our family is decently well-off, but some of the rumours are exaggerated.'





Super Junior's Kyuhyun


Kyuhyun's father's school academy has been running for 18 years and in 2012, Mr. Cho opened a Korean language academy in Taiwan which attracted close to 1,000 fans on its opening day.

Kyuhyun's mother also operates an art academy and a café named 'Kona Beans' in Seoul which is co-owned by the mothers of Super Junior leader Leeteuk and member Sungmin.



Super Junior's Sungmin



Sungmin is the second member of Super Junior who makes the 'rich kids' list and the son of the CEO of two companies, SendBill (e-tax software) and Network Mania (analytics company).

According to media reports, SendBill's customer base includes 250 big firms and over 85,000 small and medium enterprises.



Super Junior's Siwon


This lad seems to have it all. And on top of that, he is the only son of the CEO of Boryung Medience, a pharmaceutical company.

Siwon's father was the President of fashion company Korean Slim Fashion before he joined Boryung Medience in 2011. The Choi family is also rumoured to hold shares of the Hyundai Department Store which is one of the largest departmental store chains in Korea.

Siwon's princely image has opened doors to endorsement deals as he was recently made the honourary ambassador for Audi Korea. To top it off, the Super Junior member also happens to be among the 333 people in the world to own the limited edition Audi R8 GT Spyder.






EXO's Suho


EXO leader Suho comes from a wealthy family and lives a lavish lifestyle, the group’s members revealed on television show “Beatles Code 2″ .

On the show, MC’s Tak Jae Hoon and Super Junior’s Shindong asked Suho, who likes to play golf in his spare time, about rumours suggesting that he actually came from a wealthy family.

Before Suho even answered their question, EXO’s Chen and Kai talked about how their ‘hyung’ (older brother) always treated them with expensive foods.

“Once, Suho hyung spent 800,000 won worth of food in one day for us,” both of them told the same story to the audiences.Later on the show, Suho talked about his father who works as a professor.
